The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has ruled that a husband must maintain his estranged wife by working as an unskilled labourer, even if he has no income. The court stated that a husband engaging in labour work could earn around Rs 350-400 per day. The decision was made in response to a Unnao man’s revision petition challenging the order to pay a monthly maintenance of Rs 2,000 to his wife.
