The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force has arrested four office bearers of the Halal Council of India for allegedly issuing fraudulent Halal certificates. The arrests came after a ban on Halal-certified food products in the state. The investigation was transferred to the Special Task Force due to alleged irregularities in certification. The accused face charges of criminal conspiracy, extortion, cheating, forgery, promoting enmity between different groups, and intent to wound religious feelings.
