Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will be the candidate of the BJP and JD(S) alliance for the Mandya Lok Sabha seat, according to JD(S) leader C.S. Puttaraju. The alliance is confident that Kumaraswamy will win with a big margin. Kumaraswamy’s presence in Mandya and the loyalty of the people towards him give him an advantage over the Congress candidate.

Posters dubbing former Karnataka CM H D Kumaraswamy as ‘current thief’ surfaced near his house a day after a case of power theft was registered against him. Videos of the posters went viral on social media. The Congress in Karnataka accused Kumaraswamy of drawing power illegally to light up his residence with decorative lights during Deepavali. The ruling party posted a video criticising the JD(S) leader.
