The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) aims to spoil the prospects of the BJP in the first two rounds of voting for Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh by denting the vote banks of both the ruling NDA and the Opposition INDIA bloc in the region. BSP leader Mayawati’s strategy involves building the core vote bank of Jatavs and using discontentment among specific communities to its advantage. Muslims are expected to show faith in Mayawati’s non-partisan stand. The BSP is targeting the BJP vote and is not fielding Muslim candidates in certain seats.
