A sessions court in Mumbai has summoned cricketer Prithvi Shaw in response to a plea filed by social media influencer Sapna Gill, challenging orders of a magistrate. Gill has accused Shaw of molesting her at a pub. The court also issued summons to the airport police who did not register a case initially. Gill’s complaint seeks registration of an FIR against Shaw for assault under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

A Special Court in Tamil Nadu has ordered the issue of summons to Udhayanidhi Stalin, Tamil Nadu Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, on a private complaint lodged against him for making derogatory statements against Sanathana Dharma. The court has taken cognisance of offences under Sections 153, 298, and 500 of the Indian Penal Code. The complainant, who belongs to the Scheduled Tribe community and follows Sanathana Dharma, alleges that Stalin’s statement has defamed him and his religion. Proceedings in the case have been adjourned until March 4.

A U.S. citizen of Indian origin has filed a complaint against the CEO of a private company for allegedly sexually assaulting her in a hotel room in south Delhi. The incident took place after they attended a seminar. An FIR has been registered and investigation is underway.

A parliamentary committee in India has recommended reducing the proposed seven years’ imprisonment for causing death by negligence to five years. The committee also called for further deliberation on the suggested 10-year jail term for causing death by rash or negligent act and escaping the scene or failing to report the incident.
