The Maharashtra education department has included students with type-1 diabetes in the special needs category, allowing them to consume snacks and take medication in the classroom and during examinations. The decision was made based on the recommendations of the National Commission for Child Rights. Students using Continuous Glucose Monitoring, Flash Glucose Monitoring, and/or insulin pumps can have these devices with them during exams. Medication and provisions will also be made for students with type-1 diabetes during competitive and other examinations.
