The Congress has named K V Gowtham as its candidate for the Kolar Lok Sabha seat. This comes after party infighting over the issue, with five Congress legislators and Karnataka Minister K H Muniyappa threatening to resign. Despite Muniyappa’s push for his son-in-law Chikka Peddanna, Gowtham was chosen for the seat. The BJP has reserved the Kolar seat for its ally JD(S), whose candidate is M Mallesh Babu.
