Preventive Detention (PD) orders have been issued against a 25-year-old man in Telangana. He was cheating people by posing as a police officer using fake identity cards and resorted to kidnapping and extorting money from citizens using illegal firearms. A district court in Auraiya has handed down a four-year prison sentence and a fine of Rs 5,000 to former bandit Seema Parihar and her four associates in a kidnapping case that dates back to 1994. The crime involved the kidnapping of Promod Kumar Tripathi and was committed by the Lalaram-Seema Parihar gang. Parihar, who has been acquitted in 15 criminal cases and granted bail in 14 others, plans to appeal the court’s decision.
