The visit of West Bengal CM to Delhi last week has stirred speculations of a river-waters deal about to be signed between India and Bangladesh. Diplomats on the subject say that there is adamantly a major deal regarding either Kushiyara or Ganga, coming in action before the PM Hasina’s visit to India. The upcoming meeting of the Joint River Commission (JRC) is expected to indulge in sharing data of river waters and better flood control planning. Aside, the Teesta waters agreement is also in urgency of being obtained by Bangladesh, since its delay due to Delhi-Kolkata connections.
