Villagers in the Tian-Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan have constructed an artificial glacier to provide water for their drought-hit farms. The glacier, created by redirecting water from the peaks of Tian-Shan, is aimed at countering the effects of melting natural glaciers caused by climate change. The villagers hope that these artificial glaciers will provide enough water for their livestock and to irrigate the land in their district. The lack of water from natural glaciers is causing tensions and dry conditions in Central Asia. The initiative aims to address these challenges and support the fragile Kyrgyz economy.
