European regulators have expressed concerns that Amazon’s proposed acquisition of iRobot may harm competition. The European Commission believes that the buyout may hinder iRobot’s rivals from effectively competing on Amazon’s marketplace, particularly in France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. They also believe that Amazon may engage in anti-competitive practices by limiting visibility and raising costs for iRobot’s rivals. The commission has until February 14th to make a final decision on the deal. Amazon’s acquisition of iRobot was announced last year for $1.7 billion.
