A group of relatives searching for some of Mexico’s missing persons have uncovered around two dozen bags containing human remains in a clandestine cemetery. Drug trafficking cartels and organized crime gangs are suspected of using ovens for incinerating their victims, leaving no trace behind. The country’s forensic system is overwhelmed, resulting in tens of thousands of unidentified bodies in morgues or mass graves.

Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua has been crowned Miss Universe 2023, winning the 72nd Miss Universe pageant. The final question asked all the top three contestants about living one year in another woman’s shoes. Sheynnis Palacios chose Mary Wollstonecraft for opening up opportunities for women. Anntonia Porsild chose Malala Yousafzai, while Moraya Wilson chose her own mother. The pageant had several historic moments and John Legend performed in the finale. Mexico has been announced as the destination for the next edition of Miss Universe.
US and European firms are redirecting their investments away from China to other developing markets, with India being the top recipient. This shift highlights concerns over China’s business environment, economic recovery, and politics that weigh on the minds of foreign investors. The value of US and European greenfield investment in India has increased significantly, while investment in China has significantly reduced. While diversification is underway, it will take years for advanced economies to achieve their objectives of reducing exposure to China due to its crucial position in global supply chains.
While US witnesses highest illegal migrations from Mexico, this August was different as the highest number of migrants were from Venezuela, reaching at a 25,349 stoppage by US authorities, 43% higher from July. America also witnessed the first time cross of over 2 million stopped migrants in three months. The only detectable reason seems to be no legal constraints on repeat-crossers under the Title 42 denial of asylum for prevention of spread of Covid-19. Migrations from Cuba and Nicaragua were witnessed soaring as well.
