A high-profile international summit in Brussels highlights the renewed support for nuclear power as a key weapon against climate change. The event, organised by the IAEA, gathered more than 30 countries, including the US, China, and Brazil, who committed to unlocking the full potential of nuclear energy. The EU’s nuclear alliance, led by France, also played a significant role in promoting the use of carbon-free nuclear energy within the region. The joint declaration emphasizes the need for both public and private finance to meet the sector’s investment requirements.

Indian nuclear technology has reached a milestone with the Kakrapar atomic power plant achieving full load. The 700 MWe unit is the first of 16 reactors designed by Indian scientists and engineers. The government aims to triple nuclear power capacity to 22,480 MWe by 2030-31. Nuclear power is crucial to India’s clean energy goals, accounting for a fifth of the country’s generation capacity and reducing CO2 emissions.
