The UN has expressed concern as Israel began sending back thousands of Palestinian workers to Gaza. UN human rights office spokeswoman Elizabeth Throssell stated that the workers may not have homes to return to and face grave dangers from ongoing military clashes. This move comes after Hamas gunmen stormed the Gaza border, leading to a significant death toll and kidnappings according to Israeli officials. The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry reports that over 9,000 people in Gaza have been killed by Israel’s bombing campaign. The UN is worried about the situation these workers will face upon return to Gaza.
