The PMK founder, S Ramadoss, criticized the arrest of fishermen from Rameswaram by the Sri Lankan Navy. He called on the Centre and state government to take constructive measures and find a permanent solution to the fishermen issue. Mr. Ramadoss also urged the Centre to hold talks with Sri Lanka and ensure the release of all arrested fishermen and their seized boats.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District Collector Himanshu Shukla has announced that desilting work at the Rameswaram confluence point is expected to finish by early October. The point is where three irrigation drains merge into the Bay of Bengal, serving approximately 35,000 acres of land. The project is being funded with a ₹20 lakh grant.
