Deepika Kumari emerged as the top performer in the selection trials for women’s recurve archery, securing her spot in the Indian team for Archery World Cups and the 2024 Paris Olympics. The trials included 16 archers and Deepika finished ahead of Asian Games bronze medalists Bhajan Kaur and Ankita Bhakat. The Archery World Cup’s first stage will be held in Shangai from April 23 to 28, followed by the second leg in South Korea from May 21 to 26.

United World Wrestling (UWW), the world governing body for the sport, has announced that it would only accept entries from the affiliated national body, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), for the forthcoming Asian championships and Asian Olympic Games qualifier in Bishkek. This decision comes after the Delhi High Court ruled that the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) appointed ad-hoc committee would conduct selection trials for these events. UWW President, Nenda Lalovic, stated that the responsibility of selecting and announcing teams lies with the national federations affiliated to UWW.

Wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, and Satyawrat Kadiyan have filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against the Wrestling Federation of India’s decision to hold selection trials for the Senior Asian Wrestling Championships 2024 and Asian Olympic Games Qualifier Wrestling Tournament.
