Chief Economic Advisor Anantha Nageswaran stated that various initiatives from the government and growing investment will lead to the creation of more job opportunities in the coming decade. He highlighted the decline in capital formation and credit growth in the last decade but expressed hope for a turnaround. He mentioned the decline in employment in agriculture and the addition of jobs in manufacturing, services, and construction sectors. Nageswaran also discussed government initiatives for job creation and the need for improvement in regulatory and tax policies.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasizes the government’s commitment to skill development and creating employment opportunities for the youth. The job fair organized by NSDC and BJP leader Neeraj Singh witnessed 6,300 applicants securing job offers. Singh credits the success of government schemes like Mudra, Startup, and Stand Up for transforming youth innovation into wealth creation. He highlights the investments in infrastructure development and urges the newly employed youth to work hard and contribute to society. Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak praises the government’s efforts to transform Lucknow into a world-class city.

India needs to prioritize skill development and holistic education to narrow the gap between potential and realization. With only 5% of the population formally skilled, graduates are ill-prepared for the competitive job market. The NEP 2020 emphasizes the need for skill-based education to bridge this gap. Formal education has limited impact on job performance, highlighting the importance of on-the-job training. Industries are adapting by implementing managed training services and apprenticeships, while the job landscape is shifting towards specialized skills in AI, ML, sustainability, and information security. Embracing these changes will shape a workforce ready to thrive in the dynamic global economy.
