ISRO Chairman S Somanath has decided to postpone the release of his upcoming memoir, titled ‘Nilavu Kudicha Simhangal’ (Lions that drank the moonlight), after excerpts from the book sparked controversy. The memoir reportedly discusses the former ISRO chief K Sivan’s alleged attempt to obstruct Somanath’s appointment. Somanath stated that he did not write the controversial content and wants to ensure the book does not create any misrepresentations. He plans to make a decision about the book’s release at a later time.
India’s space agency launched a rocket on Saturday to study the sun in its first solar mission. The Aditya-L1 spacecraft will study solar winds and their impact on earth’s climate patterns and the origins of solar wind. The mission also aims to address the challenge of safeguarding satellites from space-weather events.
