Around 30% women in India married by the age of 21, with states West Bengal and Jharkhand at the highest, Delhi following behind with 17%. With the average age of the country at 22.7, Kerala held no number of women marrying below 18, however, highest in Jharkhand (5.8%) and West Bengal (4.7%). Odisha, UP and Bihar also fell under more-than-3% window of women marrying before 18; with Telangana and Rajasthan at a shocking average age of 15 years. Almost a third of India’s rural women married between the ages of 18-20 years, while urban areas showed an 18.6%.
