The selling price per kg of garlic in Bengaluru markets, both wholesale and retail, has surged due to a delay in the sowing-harvesting cycle. The price has risen from ₹100-₹250 per kg to ₹350 per kg in wholesale markets and ₹500 per kg in retail markets. The supply shortage is caused by a delay in garlic crop production in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Prices are expected to reduce as supply increases in the coming weeks, relieving consumers and kitchen essential users.
