Two Thai journalists have been arrested for their news coverage of an activist spray painting an anarchist symbol and a symbol critical of ‘lese majeste’ laws on a Bangkok temple wall almost a year ago. The journalists were charged with being accomplices to damaging a historical site and public vandalism. The Allahabad High Court has reserved its judgment on a PIL seeking the removal of Mathura’s Shahi Idgah mosque, which is believed to have been built on the birthplace of Lord Krishna. The petitioner has requested that the land be handed over to Hindus for the construction of a temple, and also sought permission for Hindus to worship at the mosque on specific occasions. The petitioner has asked for a court-monitored excavation of the disputed structure by the Archaeological Survey of India.
