Sales of passenger vehicles in the local market increased by 8.4% to its highest-ever mark at 4.22 million units in the financial year concluded March 31, 2024 powered by better supplies and sustained consumer demand. Two-wheeler sales too recovered, growing by over 13% to 17.9 million units in the year under review.

A 10-year-old girl died in a tragic accident in Chennai when she fell from a two-wheeler being driven by her mother and was run over by a speeding water tanker. The driver fled the scene but was subsequently arrested. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
