A Special Court in Tamil Nadu has ordered the issue of summons to Udhayanidhi Stalin, Tamil Nadu Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, on a private complaint lodged against him for making derogatory statements against Sanathana Dharma. The court has taken cognisance of offences under Sections 153, 298, and 500 of the Indian Penal Code. The complainant, who belongs to the Scheduled Tribe community and follows Sanathana Dharma, alleges that Stalin’s statement has defamed him and his religion. Proceedings in the case have been adjourned until March 4.
