Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar announced that the next major activity for the Navy will be a solo circumnavigation expedition by a woman officer. This comes after Commander Abhilash Tomy successfully completed the Golden Globe solo non-stop race around the world. Tomy has been appointed as a mentor to encourage sailing in the Indian Navy.
