Six people have been arrested by Kerala police in connection with the death of a student at the Government Veterinary College in Wayanad. The victim’s family claims he was murdered and alleges that the accused individuals are associated with the Student Federation of India (SFI), the student wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The Chief Minister has ordered a special investigation team to look into the matter.

Police fired water cannons at Youth Congress activists who staged a protest in front of the Police Commissioner office in Kochi against the arrest of organisation president Rahul Mamkootathil.
