A violent family dispute in West Bengal's Murshidabad district turned fatal when a 48-year-old man, Rafikul Sheikh, was killed by crude bombs allegedly thrown by his cousin brother, Hafikul Sheikh. The conflict stemmed from a long-standing disagreement over a piece of ancestral land. The altercation escalated on Tuesday morning, leading to the tragic death of Rafikul. The police have detained several individuals for questioning, including Hafikul Sheikh and his son. The deceased's family filed a complaint, resulting in the registration of an FIR. Three other individuals sustained injuries during the confrontation but were reported to be in stable condition after receiving medical treatment. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the crude bombs used in the attack. This incident follows another recent tragedy in the region where a 13-year-old girl was killed by a crude bomb thrown by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers post their victory in the Kaliganj assembly seat bye-election. In a separate incident in the same district, a woman named Pinki Das was fatally attacked with a sickle by her brother-in-law, Nibir Das, following a heated argument between their families over a plot of land. Nibir Das has been arrested by the police in connection with the crime.
