Arunachal Farmers Supply Fresh Produce in Bulk to ITBP

July 6, 2025

A government-run agency in Arunachal Pradesh, the Arunachal Pradesh Agricultural Marketing Board (APAMB), has launched a mission named 'Mission Arun Himveer' to assist high-altitude farmers in supplying farm-fresh vegetables and fruits in bulk to armed forces personnel across the state. The initiative aims to establish a direct market link between the farmers and the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to provide fresh, high-quality, organic, and locally grown produce to the forces. This mission serves as a platform to foster self-reliance and mutual support while reducing dependency on long supply chains and intermediaries. In a recent development, a consignment of vegetables was sent to the 59th Battalion of ITBP in the newly formed Bichom district. This marks the second initiative between APAMB and ITBP, following the success of 'Mission Krishi Veer,' which was launched in August 2022 for Indian Army and other paramilitary forces personnel. The project aims to benefit at least 50,000 armed forces personnel stationed in the Kameng Sector and another 50,000 across the rest of the state, who have a daily demand of 17 tonnes of fruits and 23 tonnes of vegetables. By bridging the gap between local farmers and armed forces, the mission enhances farmers' livelihoods and ensures the timely delivery of fresh produce to the forces.
