Nearly 3,000 people in Taiwan evacuated their homes as Typhoon Danas brought torrential rain, floods, and landslides. With wind speeds reaching 137 km/h, the typhoon is expected to move northwards along Taiwan's west coast. At least 28 people have been treated for minor injuries. The weather agency warned of heavy rain across the island as the typhoon progresses northwards. Taiwan experiences frequent tropical storms from July to October. Most evacuees were from mountainous areas near Kaohsiung, where landslides and flooding were reported but have since subsided.
