Ahead of the state Indian Medical Association's one-day strike over permitting homeopaths to prescribe modern medicines, resident doctors in Maharashtra have expressed their worries. The decision to allow homeopaths who completed a one-year pharmacology course to prescribe modern medicines has triggered concerns among medical professionals. The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) has cautioned of potential statewide protests if the government does not retract the decision. Dr. Pratik Debaje, the president of MARD, stated, "We will wait for a response from the government for one to two weeks before commencing protests." In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the doctors highlighted that the government's decision goes against the core principles of medical regulation. They emphasized that such a move puts the lives of Maharashtra residents at risk and undermines the dedicated efforts of numerous MBBS doctors and resident doctors. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) held a meeting with the Chief Minister to discuss this issue on Thursday. As of the latest update, the meeting was ongoing at the time of reporting.
