Days after chilling allegations emerged in Dharmasthala about the disposal of bodies of sexual abuse and murder victims, a new complaint has surfaced. Sujatha Bhat, mother of medical student Ananya Bhat who went missing in 2003, filed a fresh plea with Dharmasthala police, seeking a thorough investigation into her daughter's mysterious disappearance. Ananya, a first-year MBBS student in a college in Manipal, had traveled to Dharmasthala with friends in 2003 and never returned. Sujatha expressed her fear and stated that if any remains are found and confirmed to be her daughter's through DNA, she would be able to perform her last rites for Ananya's soul to find peace. She recalled the lack of support in her search for Ananya, mentioning an assault in Dharmasthala after failing to receive help from the Belthangady police.
