Anshumaan Pushkar, the actor famous for his role in 'Jamtara', recently shared his experience of losing a role because of social media metrics. In an interaction with IANS, he admitted that he has indeed missed out on opportunities due to a lack of following on social media platforms. Pushkar maintained a positive outlook on the situation, mentioning that he doesn't take it personally when producers or directors prioritize numbers over talent. He emphasized that the chosen actor is not any less talented, irrespective of social media metrics. Highlighting the changing dynamics of the industry, Pushkar addressed the growing significance of social media presence for actors in today's competitive environment. While acknowledging the impact of Instagram numbers on casting decisions, he pointed out that established names like Ranbir Kapoor have a different standing due to their massive fan base. However, he also emphasized that actors from smaller towns, like Kangana Ranaut, late Sushant Singh Rajput, and Pankaj Tripathi, have shattered stereotypes by excelling in diverse roles based on their talent and public acceptance. Pushkar shared his versatility in portraying both intense and subtle characters, resisting limitations imposed by genre or character shades. He expressed his readiness to explore all kinds of roles to challenge his skills and contribute to the industry. Acknowledging the growing influence of data-driven marketing strategies, Pushkar acknowledged that the industry's approach is evolving towards a more analytical and audience-driven model. Despite the challenges posed by social media metrics, Pushkar remains optimistic and adaptable to the changing landscape of the entertainment industry. 'Maalik', in which he recently appeared as Badaun in Rajkummar Rao's gangster drama, received mixed responses upon its theatrical release on 11th July.
