Bengaluru is getting ready for a moderate rainfall expected on Tuesday, as indicated by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The sky is forecasted to remain cloudy all day, keeping the temperature pleasant with a minimum of 21 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 26 degrees Celsius. The full-day cloud cover and rain are anticipated to create comfortable weather conditions for residents. In addition to this forecast, the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) provided an outlook for the upcoming week, predicting scattered moderate rains and strong winds affecting various districts, especially coastal and Malnad areas on the 6th and 7th of August. Although heavy to very heavy rain is foreseen in isolated locations during these dates, light to moderate rain is expected in the interior districts until August 8. The IMD also cautioned that the predicted rainfall could come with strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning, signaling the need for caution among the populace. As a result, a yellow alert was issued for several areas across Karnataka, including Bengaluru, to prepare residents for potentially severe weather conditions. Recently, Bengaluru saw a resurgence of monsoon activity after a period of dry weather. A significant bout of heavy rain was reported across the city, particularly affecting the East Zone and the Yelahanka area on Monday. This sudden weather change caused waterlogging on major thoroughfares like Kamaraj Road, along with low-lying areas such as KR Puram and the Kasturi Nagar down-ramp. Fortunately, despite the significant rain, the situation did not escalate to the point where it caused major traffic snarls or safety concerns. During the day, the IMD's Bengaluru city observatory recorded a total of 1.9 mm of rainfall between 8:30 AM and 8:30 PM, while other weather stations around HAL airport and the Bengaluru Urban automatic weather monitoring system logged 2 mm in the same timeframe. These moderate rains bring a welcome change to Bengaluru's summer climate, allowing residents to enjoy a cooler and more refreshing atmosphere. In a bid to keep the public safe, officials are urging citizens to stay informed about the weather updates and take appropriate precautions, especially in light of the yellow alert. It is advisable to plan outdoor activities carefully, bearing in mind the possibility of sudden weather changes. With continued monitoring of the weather patterns, the authorities are doing their best to keep everyone informed and safe during this unpredictable monsoon season.
