The bench, led by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, stepped in to dismiss a plea that sought to stop the movie’s release. Why? They said the petitioner did not show a solid reason or 'prima facie case' to hold back the movie. The judges highlighted a key point: “Producer has already spent life earnings in the film and if the movie is not released the balance of convenience will be disturbed.” Simply put, the court felt it would be unfair to put the brakes on the film, especially since it has already been certified by the Central Board of Film Certification. What’s more, the court was confident the film’s release would not impact any ongoing trials. They said, “Once a film has been certified by the Board and trial is not likely to be effected by exhibition, we find ourselves unable to agree to prayer for staying release of movie.” Adding fuel to the fire, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) had already put a full stop to any doubts by dismissing all petitions challenging the film’s certification just the day before. This official clearance paved the way for ‘Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder’ to finally hit the big screens, despite the controversy surrounding its subject.
