The Delhi Assembly has just given a big thumbs-up to a fresh Bill aimed at controlling fee hikes in private unaided schools across the capital! This is the BJP-led Delhi government's first law to keep school fees in check. What a rollercoaster it was in the Assembly on Friday, with a four-hour heated debate that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. The Bill, officially called the Delhi School Education Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees Bill, 2025, was introduced by Education Minister Ashish Sood earlier in the Monsoon session this week. It promises to bring transparency and fairness in the way private schools raise their fees, a matter close to many parents' hearts. But wait, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was not ready to roll over! They proposed eight changes to the Bill, hoping to make it better or perhaps more balanced. However, their suggestions did not win the day. During voting, all eight amendments were rejected, signaling a clear victory for the ruling BJP team. Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta has announced that the Bill will now move forward to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena for final approval. During the voting process, 41 BJP MLAs and 17 AAP lawmakers were present and took part. This Bill marks a significant step in the education sector, aiming to limit sudden and hefty fee hikes that often trouble parents. So, all eyes are now on the Lt Governor to see when this law will get the green light and how it will impact schools and families in Delhi.
