Thomas Dohmke’s career started in 1998 at Technische Universität Berlin, where he dived deep into the complicated world of computer engineering. He mastered a tough course that mixed software programming with hardware design. This dual knowledge became the strong base for his bright future. Not one to stop there, Dohmke boldly traveled to Scotland to study at the University of Glasgow from 2003 to 2008. In 2008, Dohmke’s entrepreneurial side shined when he co-founded HockeyApp. It quickly became a beloved tool for app developers worldwide, making mobile app testing easier and faster. Microsoft took notice and bought HockeyApp in 2014. After that, Dohmke took charge of Microsoft’s mobile developer tools. He also played a key role in Microsoft’s 2018 purchase of GitHub, one of the biggest coding platforms on the planet. November 2021 was a big moment — Dohmke became GitHub’s CEO. Right away, he pushed for new ideas, especially using artificial intelligence. He introduced GitHub Copilot, an AI assistant that helps programmers by suggesting bits of code.
