A fiery protest erupted in Howrah today as determined demonstrators marched towards Nabanna, the West Bengal secretariat. This protest marked exactly one year since a horrific crime shook the state — the rape and murder of Abhaya, an on-duty doctor at RG Kar hospital. The crowd, chanting with passion and pain, reached the Santragachi assembly point where police had set up a strong iron wall of barricades to stop them.
