The silent, sneaky war for global tech power is on! Experts warn that China is tightening its grip on worldwide telecommunications, using secret weapons like undersea cables, big data centres, and social media platforms. Salih Hudayar, Foreign Minister for East Turkestan’s government-in-exile, says this is not just a trade fight — “It's war, an information war,” and “The West is losing.” Undersea cables, those giant underwater internet highways, are now mostly built or run by Chinese state-linked companies. Hudayar warns this dangerous move could let China spy on sensitive data and even cripple Western economies and armies if a crisis hits. The plot thickens in East Turkestan (occupied region home to persecuted Uighurs), where China is building huge AI data centres. Shockingly, these centres use advanced chips made in the West, even with export rules trying to stop this tech flow. “This is the absurdity of the situation,” Hudayar said. “The US is enabling China's growth by selling advanced tech, all in the name of short-term trade stability. Meanwhile, Beijing is turning it into a weapon.” And what about TikTok? Hudayar calls it a “surveillance platform masquerading as entertainment.” ByteDance, TikTok’s owner, collects data from millions of Western users and passes it to Beijing. According to Hudayar, “The Chinese Communist Party is compiling dossiers for future blackmail, political manipulation, and ideological influence.” The warning is loud and clear: The West must invest heavily in its own safe tech systems now—such as secure undersea cables and banning dangerous Chinese devices—or risk being digitally dominated by China. “China didn’t ask permission,” Hudayar said fiercely. “It launched this war. Now it’s up to the West to fight back, before it’s too late.” The clock is ticking for the tech battle that will shape the world’s future!
