In a spectacular preseason showdown at the iconic Signal Iduna Park on Sunday, August 10, 2025, Juventus wrapped up their Germany training stint with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund. The stadium roared with over 80,000 fans, watching a memorable match that also marked the last starting appearance of Dortmund’s veteran defender Mats Hummels. The match began with Dortmund pushing hard, and striker Serhou Guirassy brought early sparks with a chance that kept Juventus alert. But soon Juventus regained their rhythm. In the 15th minute, the energetic Pierre Kalulu sent a precise cross into the box, where Andrea Cambiaso leapt to score the opener, lighting up the game. Dortmund tried to answer back in the 25th minute when Jobe Bellingham whipped in a low cross, but Juventus’ defense stood strong. Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram kept pressing, firing three shots between the 27th and 40th minutes, but luck wasn’t on his side as the ball missed the goal each time. Juventus held their lead as the halftime whistle blew, keeping Dortmund at bay with smart possession and sharp defense. The second half saw Juventus turn up the heat early. Francisco Conceicao ramped up the pressure, and a slick team move involving Joao Mario and Kenan Yildiz set Cambiaso free again. Cambiaso, the star of the night, gleefully netted his second goal, doubling Juventus's lead and sparking cheers from their fans. Refusing to give up, Borussia Dortmund increased the attack. Guirassy tested Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio with great shots, until Maximilian Beier finally cracked the defense in the 89th minute, scoring a last-minute goal to make it 2-1. But Juventus, under coach Igor Tudor’s guidance, held firm and kept the ball in the final moments, sealing a classy victory. It was a double celebration for Juventus, as their Women's First Team also showed class with a strong 4-0 win against Dortmund's women’s side. This exciting match was the perfect dress rehearsal for both teams before they dive into their busy league campaigns. Juventus will fire up the Serie A later this month, while Borussia Dortmund continues to sharpen their tools for Bundesliga action.
