Get ready movie lovers! Rajinikanth's blockbuster film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is set to hit theatres on August 14, and the buzz is sizzling hot. Fans in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Kochi, and Chandigarh have already snapped up advance tickets. In just 30 minutes after bookings opened, Coolie sold a whopping 10,000 tickets, smashing box office records! But wait, the ticket prices are as spicy as a hot masala chai! Lakshmi Cinema in Taverekere is also joining the party, with diamond class tickets priced at Rs 1,000 and gold class at Rs 800. Cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai see early shows priced between Rs 300 to Rs 500. Word is, more single theatres in Bengaluru will soon start early shows, likely charging Rs 1,000 per ticket. Meanwhile, the Chennai crowd is lucky! Major cinemas there are almost sold out, and tickets start as low as Rs 57 and max out at Rs 190 for premium seats. Here’s a twist: Coolie had a very limited Hindi release on August 10 at Inox and Cinepolis theatres. Remember, Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proposed capping ticket prices at Rs 200 in the 2025-26 Budget, but no official word yet on how strictly this will be followed. Coolie’s launch faces a heavyweight clash with War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR. This fight means fewer showtimes for Coolie, especially in the North. The Tamil film chose a bold 8-week theatre-only run before OTT, snagging some multiplex slots. But single screens? Nearly 90% are taken by War 2, pushing Coolie out of prime-time slots in major North cities.
