Elon Musk is a name that screams innovation and hard work. But did you know he also runs Tesla meetings with strict rules? Russell Varone, Tesla’s ex-powertrain manufacturing boss, spilled the beans on Musk’s ground rules. Want to know how Tesla stays so sharp? Let’s dive in!
Elon Musk hates wasting time. Even though he loves gaming and chatting on social media platform X, his day is packed with super long meetings—sometimes up to 16 hours! Russell Varone shared on X, “Every meeting I had with [Elon] had a few simple ground rules. No power points. Only talk about what is wrong / broken / roadblock you need [Elon] to clear. Don’t bring food. Keep it clear. Speak about action.” Talk about tough love!
If you have ever sat through boring PowerPoint after PowerPoint, Musk’s rule will delight you. He skips slides and wants direct talk about what’s going wrong. As Varone put it, “Only talk about what is wrong, broken, or a roadblock you need Elon to clear.” This sharpens the focus and cuts out all the fluff. Every second is about fixing things fast!
This one got many people talking! Why no food in meetings? Some joked it kills the fun. Varone explained that Musk himself did eat during meetings because he had to survive those marathon 16-hour sessions. “He would eat in mtgs but that’s cause he was running 16 hrs of mtgs each day,” Varone said. Musk cleared the air, saying, “bringing food is fine if you haven’t eaten.” The real no-no is noisy snacks like “eating tortilla chips and sucking soda through a straw.” So yes, snacks can stay, as long as they don’t disturb the flow.
Elon Musk’s no-nonsense meeting rules might feel strict, but they show how every Tesla minute is precious. No distractions, no time wasting—just action and results. That’s how one of the world’s richest and most innovative companies keeps zooming ahead!
