The stage is set for a spectacular show at the historic Red Fort in New Delhi this August 15! Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the 79th Independence Day celebrations, unfurling the National Flag and delivering his powerful address from the iconic ramparts. This year’s theme is “Naya Bharat,” symbolizing India’s exciting journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, said the Union Ministry of Defence (MoD). The celebrations promise fireworks of pride and patriotism. When the Tricolour is hoisted, the special Air Force band will play the National Anthem and present the ‘Rashtriya Salute’. Conducted by Junior Warrant Officer M. Deka, the band now features, for the first time, 11 talented Agniveer Vayu musicians adding fresh energy to the patriotic tunes! Right after the flag-hoisting, two Mi-17 Air Force helicopters will fly overhead, showering flower petals on the crowd below. One helicopter will carry the National Flag, while the other displays the flag of Operation Sindoor, an important mission success to be celebrated during the event. Captained by Wing Commanders Vinay Poonia and Aditya Jaiswal, these flying marvels will add a dash of drama to the celebrations. Following this, the PM’s speech will inspire millions. To end with grandeur, National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets and ‘My Bharat’ volunteers will unite in singing the National Anthem, filling hearts with pride. The event’s decorations all speak the language of victory and progress. The Operation Sindoor logo will grace the view cutter at Gyanpath and appear on floral arrangements, while invitation cards carry the Sindoor emblem along with a watermark of the spectacular Chenab bridge – a shining symbol of the rise of “Naya Bharat.” Around 5,000 special guests from all corners of life are invited to soak in the magic. About 2,500 cadets from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, alongside ‘My Bharat’ volunteers, will proudly form the ‘Naya Bharat’ logo opposite the Red Fort on Gyanpath. Adding to the patriotic beats, bands from defence and paramilitary forces will perform at over 140 major locations across India that evening, spreading the festive spirit and celebrating the triumph of Operation Sindoor far and wide. This Independence Day promises to be a heart-stirring blend of tradition, valor, and the bright future of a bold new India!
