Kolkata is buzzing with patriotic spirit as Independence Day draws near! West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spoke out loud and clear on Thursday, urging all Bengalis to never forget their "motherland and mother tongue." With fire in her voice, she warned that no one has the right to snatch anyone’s independence or rights under the cover of SIR or NRC. Taking a clear swipe at the BJP, Banerjee said, "those who shout about CAA, there is an attempt by them to implement NRC in the name of SIR." She didn’t hold back her thoughts as she declared, "I am launching my protest ahead of Independence Day. I will fight it till my last breath and not allow the rights of people to be snatched." At a Kolkata event ahead of Independence Day, Mamata reminded everyone about the true spirit of India — "a country which talks about unity and inclusiveness." She sharply questioned, "Why will you torture the migrants in other state?" her words echoing with concern for those struggling far from home. When the topic switched to Bangladeshis living in India, she calmly said, "if someone is a foreigner, action must be taken against them by the Centre," making it clear that this issue is not under her jurisdiction. Mamata Banerjee’s strong words send a clear message: She is ready to guard the rights of every citizen, especially Bengalis, and fight any unfair attempts to divide or threaten their security. This Independence Day, her call is loud and vibrant - remember your roots and stand firm for your rights!
