Ola Electric turned up the heat on Friday at its big annual event called ‘Sankalp’ held at their huge 107-acre Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu. The spotlight? Their first-ever indigenously made 4680 Bharat cell battery, which is claimed to be 10% more energy-packed and can last about 15 years! Imagine powering your Ola scooters, solar storage, or even drones with this mighty battery. That’s not all – Ola also showcased a rare earth metal-free motor. Say goodbye to expensive, supply-risky magnets from China, because Ola’s new ferrite motor skips them altogether. The company’s founder, Bhavish Aggarwal, confidently declared, “The next generation of motor technology does not need rare earths. And your company has already built it.” This bold step could shake up India’s auto industry! To sweeten the deal, Ola launched the upgraded S1 Pro+ scooter fueled by the 4680 Bharat cell. What’s cool? A whopping top speed of 141 km/h and a juicy range of 320 km on one charge. Plus, the price just got friendlier – down from Rs 1,99,999 to Rs 1,69,999, with deliveries starting September 22. The flashy Roadster X+ also got a power boost and bigger range at 501 km, now priced at Rs 1,89,999 (down from Rs 2,24,999). Ola didn’t stop there! They unveiled MoveOS 6, the new and improved operating system that brings a smart voice assistant, a camera, customizable motor sounds, personalized ride insights, and a speed boost. It’s designed to use 15% less energy, shed 25% weight, and cut costs by 43%! Fans get ready, this upgrade is due early next year. Sneak peek alert: Ola’s future includes the sporty S1 Pro Sport scooter, expected to hit markets in January 2026 at around Rs 1,49,999, and an electric bike named Diamond Head aimed for 2027. This event marks the fourth year of Ola’s August 15 tradition where big EV news drops. But behind the glitz, Ola faces tough times with slipping market share (down from 50% to 16.8%) and increasing losses – Rs 428 crore loss in the June quarter. Still, with these homegrown tech marvels and new rides, Ola Electric is revving up to reclaim its spot and electrify India’s booming EV scene.
