Rahul Gandhi's 16-Day Voter Adhikar Yatra Takes Off in Bihar to Save Voting Rights

August 17, 2025

Get ready, Bihar! Rahul Gandhi, the senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, is all set to launch a sizzling 16-day 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' from Sasaram. Covering a massive 1,300 kilometers, this journey will end with a mega rally in Patna on September 1. Big leaders from various INDIA bloc parties will join the rally too! On his X post, Rahul Gandhi said, "16 days. 20+ districts. 1,300+ kms. We are coming among the people with the Voter Rights Yatra." He added, "This is the fight to protect the most fundamental democratic right - 'one person, one vote.' Join us in Bihar to save the Constitution." Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera added some masala to this political drama. He said the Yatra would be "yet another milestone in the democratic history of India" and a "historic journey" that could mark a new chapter in India’s democracy. Khera also revealed that Rashtriya Janata Dal's star, Tejashwi Yadav, along with leaders from the INDIA bloc, will join the march. But wait, there’s a sharp twist! Khera fired at the BJP, accusing it of a sneaky plan called the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He claimed it’s meant to kick out lakhs of voters from Dalit, Adivasi, minority communities, and the poor. "This is a conspiracy not just to steal votes, but to steal identities," he warned. "Today they take voting rights, tomorrow they may deny government services like free food and housing!" Trust has also taken a hit on the Election Commission (EC). Khera slammed it, saying the EC is becoming just another 'train bogey' of the BJP’s 'double engine' rule, which Congress vows not to accept. He said, "The Election Commission becoming just a compartment of this 'double engine' - this is something we will not accept. We are fighting against this and will continue to do so in the future." The Yatra is a call to the people of Bihar to wake up and protect their rights and voices. Thanks to protests from Bihar’s citizens, Congress activists, and the INDIA bloc, the Election Commission had to make some corrections after the Supreme Court intervened. This Voter Adhikar Yatra aims to keep everyone alert so that the BJP government’s alleged plot to deny voting rights fizzles out. So, will the people of Bihar step up and march along with Rahul Gandhi to save democracy? The stage is set, the wheels are moving, and the countdown to September 1’s grand Patna rally has begun!
