Modi and Macron Join Hands to Boost Ties and Push for Peace Amid Global Trade Turmoil

August 22, 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron dialed up to power packed plans! In a lively telephonic talk on Thursday, they agreed to boost economic exchanges and strengthen their strategic partnership across all areas. They called this partnership "the key to sovereignty and independence." Sharing the highlights on his X account, Macron said, "the two leaders also coordinated their positions on the Russia-Ukraine war to move towards a just and lasting peace, with strong guarantees for Ukraine and Europe’s security." This shows how seriously both countries are working for peace in a troubled world. But the exciting news doesn't stop here. Macron revealed that India and France will work closely to prep for two huge global events. France is getting ready for its G7 presidency, while India gears up to lead the BRICS presidency in 2026. This cooperation promises to bring both nations to the world stage with flair! Earlier, PM Modi had described the chat as "very good," explaining that they discussed efforts for peaceful solutions in Ukraine and West Asia. He confidently said, "the two countries will strengthen strategic partnership." All this happens when global trade is facing its own storms. US President Donald Trump recently doubled tariffs on Indian goods to a staggering 50 per cent! The US also slapped a 15 per cent tariff on goods exported from the European Union, which includes France. Amid these tricky trade tides, India and France's growing friendship is a ray of hope for stability and cooperation. So, while the world watches wars and trade wars, Modi and Macron are plotting stronger ties and peace moves. Who wouldn't cheer for such a powerful duo working together to create harmony and prosperity?
