Anurag Thakur Blasts Rahul Gandhi on Election Losses and ECI Doubts Ahead of Bihar Polls

August 25, 2025

The political war of words is heating up ahead of the Bihar Assembly election! On Sunday, August 24, 2025, BJP MP and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur launched a fiery attack on the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Taking center stage in Hamirpur, Thakur claimed that “the Congress has lost around 90 elections” while Rahul Gandhi has been in charge. Ouch! That’s a huge number! Thakur didn't stop there. He said Rahul Gandhi is now “haunted” by the fear of losing again in Bihar. According to him, Gandhi keeps blaming the EVMs and VVPATs every time Congress faces defeat. Not only that, Thakur added that Gandhi is making “baseless statements about the Election Commission of India” even before the polls begin! “It is very unfortunate if the Opposition leaders have lost faith in the country’s constitutional framework,” said Anurag Thakur. He praised BJP-led governments for working hard to strengthen constitutional institutions and highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to bring tough laws against corrupt rulers. Taking a subtle jab at the Aam Aadmi Party, Thakur mentioned that in Delhi, some Ministers continue to “sign files and take decisions from jail,” something he called “not good” for the world's largest democracy. He strongly emphasized, “Corrupt leaders must step down from their positions.” This was in reference to new Bills aiming to give legal power to remove the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, and other Ministers if they are arrested for 30 consecutive days on serious charges. Lastly, Thakur addressed the Opposition’s disruptions during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. He told Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to focus on “holding constructive discussions” since public money is spent on parliamentary proceedings. The political battle is blazing hot, with BJP boldly standing against Congress and its leaders ahead of critical elections!
