Get ready, engineering aspirants! IIT Guwahati has changed the game for GATE 2026 registration. The application window now opens on August 28, 2025, and runs till September 28, 2025. Earlier, the dates were a bit tighter, from August 25 to September 25. So why the shift? Probably to give you more breathing room to lock in your spot for this mega exam. Missed the regular registration? No tension! There’s an extended window from September 29 to October 9, 2025. But hold on, you’ll have to pay a late fee to snag this chance. Logging in is simple: create your ID on gate2026.iitg.ac.in, fill in your details, upload docs, pay fees, and submit. All digital, all easy! Mark these dates: GATE 2026 exams are set for February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. The exam days are packed with two sessions - morning (9:30 AM to 12:30 PM) and afternoon (2:30 PM to 5:30 PM). Results? Waiting won’t be long; they will drop on March 19, 2026. Who can apply? If you are in your third year or beyond in an undergraduate course or already have a degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities from a recognized institute, you are good to go! Remember, your degree should be approved by MoE, AICTE, UGC, or UPSC equivalency. Overseas degree holders, you’re also welcome to join the race! Here’s the exciting masala – IIT Guwahati has rolled out a brand-new subject: Energy Science under the Engineering Sciences (XE) paper! Now, with nearly 30 disciplines to choose from, including biggies like Computer Science, Electronics, Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil, your options have never been juicier. What about fees? For female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the application fee is ₹1,000 per paper during the regular registration and jumps to ₹1,500 during the late period. For others, it’s ₹2,000 per paper normally and ₹2,500 if you’re late. GATE is not just an exam; it’s a mega gateway to MTech and PhD dreams and a golden ticket for PSU jobs.
