Rahul Gandhi, INDIA Bloc Unite for Bihar Polls, Slams Election Commission for Vote Theft

August 25, 2025

Rahul Gandhi brought a political storm on Sunday in Bihar! Standing tall with Tejashwi Yadav and other leaders from the INDIA bloc, Gandhi announced a blockbuster move — a common manifesto for the Bihar assembly elections coming later this year. At a lively press meet in Araria, Gandhi said, "The INDIA bloc will soon come out with a common manifesto for the Bihar assembly polls. All constituents of the opposition alliance are working unitedly... we are both ideologically and politically aligned, mutually respecting each other. The results would be fruitful." He called this unity a "good partnership" among the INDIA bloc parties. But that was just the beginning. Gandhi unleashed a fierce attack on the Election Commission (EC), accusing it of playing favorites. He claimed the special intensive revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar is "an institutionalised attempt by the Election Commission to steal votes in the upcoming assembly polls in the state to help the saffron party." Gandhi warned, "We will not allow the EC to steal votes in Bihar. The poll panel is working for the benefit of the BJP." He even shared his previous battle exposing flaws in voter lists in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, pointing out the EC’s double standards. "When I exposed the EC over the irregularities... the EC demanded an affidavit from me. But when Anurag Thakur of the ruling dispensation said the same thing, the Commission did not ask for any affidavit from him. This shows that EC is not neutral," Gandhi said. The Voter Adhikar Yatra led by Gandhi in Bihar also received a thunderous response, with many people joining in support. The Congress leader said, "One can imagine the impact of our yatra that even small kids are now raising the slogan of 'vote chor, gaddi chhor' (vote thief, vacate seat of power)." This shows how deeply the people feel about the EC’s actions. On the question of who will be the chief ministerial face of the INDIA bloc, Gandhi kept it cool and evasive: "We are cooperating with one another, and we have to check 'vote chori' (vote theft)." Besides Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, leaders like CPI (ML) Liberation's Dipankar Bhattacharya, VIP's Mukesh Sahni, and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar also joined hands, showing the strength of the united front. The battle in Bihar is heating up and the INDIA bloc seems ready to make waves!
