Tata Sons Chief Chandrasekaran Calls for Teamwork to Boost India’s Defence Power

September 16, 2025

In a power-packed statement, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran declared on Tuesday that India’s defence sector needs many players to build strong national capabilities. No single company can take on all the defence demands alone! His visit to Solar Industries’ defence facility in Nagpur was more than just a routine check—it was a promise of collaboration and big dreams. Talking to ANI, Chandrasekaran said, “Defence is a very important sector, and we will need multiple players. Nobody can solve the defence needs of the country alone; we all have to contribute. Wherever there is scope for collaboration, we will always collaborate.” His words paint a picture of teamwork being the secret potion to India’s defence future. He also hit the nail on the head by saying making defence is not just for business profits. “Whether it is ammunition, missiles, or other areas, the requirement for capabilities is immense. I don’t want to use the word ‘demand’ because this is not about business — it is about building capabilities required for the nation,” Chandrasekaran explained. This shows Tata’s heart is in the right place—thinking long term and aiming for nation-building, not just quick money. Chandrasekaran further added, “It is not about thinking about how much business we should do. I am considering the capabilities we need, what we currently have, what others possess, and what we must develop. This is not about a business plan for the next year, but about creating the foundation for national capability.” Such visionary thinking means Tata Group is ready to play its part in shaping India’s defence future. During the visit, Chandrasekaran inspected Solar Industries’ production lines for ammunition, missiles, and other defence tools. The Tata Group is already deep into important defence projects with the Ministry of Defence, armed forces, and DRDO. They’re eyeing bigger roles in ‘Make in India’ initiatives, working with global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to create fighter jets, helicopters, transport aircraft, weapons, land systems, drones, and aero engine parts. With this fiery spirit of cooperation and a clear focus on building India’s defence muscle, Tata Sons looks ready to fire on all cylinders and help the country soar to new heights!
