Supreme Court Directs States to Ensure Proper Footpaths for Pedestrians

Supreme Court on Wednesday directed states and UTs to frame guidelines to ensure proper footpaths for pedestrians, emphasizing the importance of unobstructed and disabled-friendly walkways as part of pedestrians' fundamental rights. Justices Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan's bench instructed the central government to present its pedestrian rights protection guidelines within two months and allowed six months to establish a National Road Safety Board. This move aims to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility across the country.
